Full house with a hole: How Orbakaite, Galkin and other fugitive Russian stars perform in half-empty US halls

Pugacheva’s daughter Kristina Orbakaite sells an expensive apartment in Moscow so that he has something to live on in the USA. Asia is closing, audiences in Europe no longer go to see Russian runaway stars, only America remains. But even there the halls are half empty. Who else is out there trying to make money?

Why did Orbakaite go on tour in America?

This year, Kristina Orbakaite was left without income due to an unsuccessful tour of Russia this spring. Due to a scandal with tickets in St. Petersburg and demands from social activists to check the singer for funding from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, concerts in other regions of the country were cancelled.

After this, the singer had to redo her plans and schedule an autumn tour in the USA and Canada back in March. By the way, perhaps even then Orbakaite decided to finally break with Russia. In her last interview, she stated that she would meet Russian fans “someday in a better life.”

The tour actually took place. From September 18 to 30, The Best tour tours ten cities in North America, however, only Vancouver and Toronto, Canada, are outside the United States. Prices by local standards are quite affordable: from 90 to 170 dollars.

Despite this, judging by the data from the American online box office, the performances are sad: the halls are half empty, although the venues themselves are small – this can be clearly seen from the video footage from one of the concerts in Los Angeles. The hall in which Orbakaite sang is difficult to compare with those where, for example, the Moscow public was accustomed to seeing her.

On the day of the artist’s performance in Miami at the 1,106-seat Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, there were still about 500 tickets on sale. At the next concert two days later in Boston, at John Hancock Hall, almost 700 of the 1,100 seats were not sold.

Things are best in New York. Here on September 28, Orbakaite performs at the Oceana Theater, located in the famous Russian district of Brighton Beach. Four days before the performance, 400 tickets remained on sale for the hall with a capacity of 1,326 seats. True, it is unknown how many of those sold were booked as free.

Why Orbakaite is selling property in Russia

Perhaps the current income does not suit the singer. In recent months, she has been selling her property in Russia. According to the SHOT telegram channel, the other day Kristina Orbakaite reduced the selling price for a three-story mansion on the banks of the Istra River in the Solnechnogorsk region, given to her by her mother, and also put up for sale two apartments in an elite residential complex in the very center of Moscow “Four Winds” on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street .

A three-story house with an area of 760 square meters on a plot of 80 acres with six bedrooms, billiards, a home theater, a hammam and a swimming pool. Alla Pugacheva Now it sells for 162 million rubles. Previously it was worth 225 million. For apartments on the eighth floor with panoramic windows with an area of 259.9 and 225.5 square meters, the artist wants to receive 200 million each.

Where does Maxim Galkin perform in the USA*

Right after Orbakaite, in October, her stepfather, a comedian, will come to the USA on tour Maxim Galkin*. The geography of his performances resembles his stepdaughter’s route – some concerts will even take place in the same halls. At the same time, ticket prices are noticeably higher: from 100 to 380 dollars.

On his social networks, the artist talks about successful sales and even promises to give additional concerts in San Francisco and New York. They say it’s sold out. There are so many people who want to attend his performances that he has to accommodate the public halfway.

Judging by the posters, in New York Galkin* will perform at the Claire Tow Theater with a capacity of 2,400 people. The numbers are impressive, but judging by the tickets already purchased, there are enough empty seats in the hall on the first day of the performance, and even more so on the second, which has not yet been sold out even by a third. The hall in San Francisco turned out to be very small – only 800 people. Tickets are freely available for both concerts.

In fact, getting to Galkin*’s concert in San Francisco is not difficultIn fact, getting to Galkin*’s concert in San Francisco is not difficult

For other cities the picture is not so rosy. For example, in Atlanta, out of 1070 seats, only about 430 were filled; in Florida, out of 738 tickets, 382 were purchased.

Who else is touring the US this fall?
Dmitry Nazarov* and Olga Vasilyeva

Fugitive actors are also bringing their play to the United States this fall. Dmitry Nazarov* and Olga Vasilyeva. Since the beginning of the Northern Military District, these two fled to Cannes, France, where on the Cote d’Azur the couple have a small apartment in the tourist part of the city, bought with income from Russia back in 2013.

Despite the fact that all this time Nazarov* boasted of a busy schedule until the end of 2024, it was possible to meet him at performances only sporadically. Last year he was spotted performing in Paris. In addition, he periodically travels to Israel. This year he appeared there in March.

In October, the couple intend to travel to 14 US cities, including performing in the halls where Galkin* and Orbakaite give concerts. However, prices for creativity are much lower: from 59 to 114 dollars.

The platforms do not shine in size either. The capacity of The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center Coeur d’Alene in San Diego, where the American performances of Nazarov* and Vasilyeva start, is only 350 people. To date, 215 tickets have been sold here.

Mikhail Shats*

It looks like the fugitive comedian decided to check the truth of his colleague’s statement Ruslan Bely*, who at one time stated that only stars of the first magnitude can afford to tour the United States. The rest can go there only “to see America.” Bearing in mind that high costs of living, including hall rental, taxes, personnel, etc., do not allow artists to leave the country with a lot of money.

Mikhail Shats*, who lives in Israel, has already been burned on tour in Indonesia. In March 2023, the local migration service extradited him from the island of Bali, where the artist came from Israel to earn extra money with a concert. Then he did not apply for a special visa that would allow him to work in the country. After police investigations, Schatz* was sent back to Tel Aviv on the first flight.

The comedian’s performances in the United States are planned in 16 cities and, it seems, will take place in small taverns, and judging by the names of the establishments, also opened by migrants from Russia. Prices on the comedian’s website are stated in the range from 45 to 65 dollars, but for some reason all the cheap tickets were sold out for all his events.
