It’s been the fifth month since the Usolsky Pig Farm changed its manager. Instead of the son of the founder of the business Ilya Sumarokov Pavel Ilyich became the chairman of SHPK Dmitry Vladimirovich Sumarokov, Paul’s nephew and grandson Ilya Alekseevich.
After the loud overthrow of Pavel Ilyich, there were many supporters of the theory that now the enterprise would confidently turn into the red channel. After all, the former chairman is clearly cold towards communist ideas, although the enterprise itself is formally listed in the camp of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
And now came the first political test of the pig farm in its current state – in September the head of the Taitur municipality was elected. The director of the autonomous non-profit organization “Center for Social Initiatives “Vector”” and a farmer represented the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Sergey Deis – person of the mayor of the Usolsky district Vitaly Matyukha.
In the last elections of the Taitura head in 2022, Deis could not defeat United Russia Stepan Buyakovbut he was soon arrested and imprisoned for five years for bribery. So unexpectedly quickly the time came to take revenge. Matyukha should be more than interested in the reddening of at least one more territory, since the list of rural municipalities supporting him is small. But Days lost outright on September 8, and with a ridiculous result. And practically no participation of the pig farm was noticed in the election process. Although this is a potentially powerful force.
But Matyukha even came to Ilya Sumarokov’s 88th birthday in July 2024 and congratulated him. That is, he clearly hoped for support.
The reports themselves from this event, within the framework of which a tourist rally was organized, are very revealing. It seems that Dmitry Vladimirovich plays trump card everywhere with his grandfather, but he does not at all look like a full-fledged successor to the charismatic Pavel Ilyich. Just a grandson, but the granddaughter is no longer ten…
There is very little of him on air at all. Rare participation in events where Dmitry Vladimirovich does something politically uncomplicated.
By the way, the disgraced offspring of Sumarokov Sr. are not represented at all in the reports from the celebration, clearly endorsed by the pig farm. Neither the grandson-minister Ilya Pavlovich, who has lost relevance, nor his father, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Baikal region Pavel Ilyich, are even mentioned by name. Apparently they fall into the vague category of “relatives”. And Pavel generally appears mysteriously as some “legislative representatives” (precisely in the plural). Although it is known that he is the only representative in parliament in the pig-breeding family.
This is all, of course, their business, but from the point of view of public policy, the Communist Party of the Baikal region has clearly not acquired any sudden strengthening from the pig farm.
On the other hand, nothing has been heard about the plans announced under Pavel Ilyich to modernize the enterprise, which included a new meat processing plant, two production sites and a feed mill with 600 new jobs.
Moreover, the implementation of the project should have been supervised at the regional level (at the Eastern Economic Forum in 2023, the Irkutsk region signed an entire corresponding cooperation agreement with the pig farm; this investment project with planned investments of nine billion rubles was approved by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture).
Who is our regional minister of agriculture? And Dmitry’s cousin Ilya, and his grandfather was not present in the current BD. Everything is in the past.
That is, they set sail from one shore and did not land on the other, at least not obviously. In terms of influencing policy, stability is maintained only in the fact that the surroundings of the enterprise continue to be regularly covered by a miasma of astronomical waste from the pig farm, which was not disposed of in a civilized manner and continues to be present as a factor in environmental poisoning…
