Lately a freak Verka Serduchka getting into trouble not only abroad. A new scandal rocked Ukraine: Andrey Danilko they hate him for his songs in Russian, which bring him his main income.
What angered Ukrainian patriots
As Ukrainian media write, at some point during a charity concert, the money from which was supposed to go to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Verka Serduchka decided to warm up the audience with her old Russian-language hits, but, it seems, she miscalculated in assessing the severity of the foreign language issue facing Square.
Under the lines “Everything will be fine” and “I’m going like this,” part of the audience left the concert, and videos documenting the singer’s “betrayal” quickly spread on social networks, collecting hundreds of angry comments.
By the way, the first number hit not only the star, but also all the spectators who sang along with Serduchka:
Internet users were not embarrassed by the fact that the artist has been publicly insulting Russia for a long time, is persona non grata here, is friends with Ukrainian President Zelensky and donates to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
How does Serduchka feel about Russia?
Danilko was one of the first Ukrainian artists to allow himself to publicly humiliate Russia. Let us remember that in the still “calm” year of 2007 at the Eurovision Song Contest, he sang the line “Russia, goodbye”, after which the artist’s work began to be boycotted.
During the period of hostilities, Serduchka actively helped the Armed Forces of Ukraine with money, gave out patriotic interviews, publicly praised the then commander-in-chief Zaluzhny, and even performed at a concert in the Kiev metro, organized specifically for the picture, designed for the Western public. In addition, Danilko regularly threw mud at Russia on his foreign tours.
Why Danilko performs outside the borders of Ukraine
Since the beginning of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine and until recently, the project’s concert activities have been carried out exclusively abroad. In one of his interviews, Danilko explained the lack of concerts in his homeland: they say, the artist does not have the right to entertain the public when there is a war and blood is being shed.
For the same reason, his Serduchka never went to the front-line territories to speak to the soldiers. True, how the Ukrainians who remained in Ukraine differ from those who fled abroad due to hostilities and why it is possible to perform in front of some and not in front of others, the singer did not explain then.
However, the funniest thing is that generous Ukrainian patriots criticized Serduchka even for such concerts: they say, while performing abroad, Danilko actually sang for the Russians – unlike poor Ukrainian refugees, the former have money for the singer’s show.
Why Serduchka was kicked out of Dubai
Perhaps, in the end, the artist began to appear on the Ukrainian stage because he began to have serious problems abroad. In January of this year, information appeared that in Dubai, local authorities fined Danilko a large amount, and as a bonus, they also banned him from entering the country for life.
The reason for this decision was the artist’s Russophobic antics during his Dubai concerts. The UAE government, which is building a multicultural state that makes money from tourists from all over the world, considered that such shows could hurt the country’s reputation and, therefore, reduce revenue.
The blow for Danilko turned out to be more than sensitive – after all, Serduchka set earnings records in the Emirates. For example, as it became known recently, for one performance on New Year’s Eve 2022, the singer in Dubai earned 15 million rubles in equivalent. At one point, the singer forever lost a decent income from a very generous Russian-speaking public.
Why scandals in show business are beneficial to the Ukrainian authorities
Experts say that the scandals surrounding Danilko are only to the advantage of the Independence government – such leavened patriotism distracts society from the officially begun new stage of mobilization, because of which almost anyone can now be sent to death in the trenches.
In recent days, Ukrainian telegram channels, which remain adequate, are replete with photo and video footage of the suddenly deserted streets of the cities of Independence, stories of numerous accidents with men fleeing to neighboring countries from conscription, and even cases of them being shot by border guards while trying to cross the state border.
In addition, the issues of multimillion-dollar theft during the construction of fortifications in the Kharkov and Sumy regions and the successes of the Russian army in the eastern direction also fade into the background.
