Participation in the SVO seems to be the only chance for the Arashukovs to “reset” their life sentences. To resolve this issue, they will clearly need high-ranking “negotiators” at large. Among these may be the name of current member of the Federation Council Arsen Kanokov. But why should the senator from Kabardino-Balkaria participate in this controversial story?
Many in Karachay-Cherkessia were dumbfounded by rumors of an attempt Rauf And Raul Arashukov to leave the colony by being sent to the Northern Military District – talk about this has been heard in the republic for several months. It is clear that the numerous relatives of the former senator and his father would be happy with this development of events. But everyone else clearly does not want to believe their ears, because they understand the consequences of the possible release of the Arashukovs for the situation in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. In this situation, the clan, which operated throughout the North Caucasus Military District and the South of Russia, will finally feel its impunity.
At first, there was a version that the force capable of resolving the issue of Raul and Rauf Arashukov’s release from behind bars would be their former friends from Chechnya. It is noteworthy that the telegram channels voiced a possible condition: father and son will not only go to the front, but will be required to finance the sending of 1,300 soldiers to the Northern Military District zone. Allegedly, such assistance to the troops can be carried out by this family for many decades.
At the same time, it is known that the Arashukovs’ connections in Chechnya mentioned above were severed by the disgraced family itself even at a time when its leaders were free. And therefore, to renew ties with former friends, they might need a parliamentarian, who, presumably, could be the well-known senator from Kabardino-Balkaria and a local oligarch Arsen Kanokov.

Between business and politics
Sometimes it seems that Arsen Kanokov himself is sometimes confused in his many public and state roles. Despite his status as a senator and membership in the Committee on International Affairs, which do not involve active participation in business, Kanokov quite enthusiastically tells reporters about his entrepreneurial successes.
In the above interview, the questions also concern Kanokov’s hotels in Sochi, where he owns the Bridge ResortRadisson, Blu Paradise Resort & SPA Sochi, Arfa-Park complexes, etc. Symbolically, the former mayor of Sochi and Kanokov’s friend Alexey Kopaygorodsky is now under arrest as part of a criminal investigation into embezzlement on a particularly large scale, which he clearly tried to avoid by participating in the SVO.
And, apparently, Arsen Kanokov is not at all embarrassed by the examples of his colleagues. In particular Yuri Napso – a former party member of Kanokov in the LDPR (it was through this party that Arsen Bashirovich was incorporated into public politics), who also has business interests in Sochi. Napso fled to the UAE due to a very remarkable criminal case.
He is accused of violating the prohibitions and restrictions provided for by anti-corruption legislation. This usually means illegally conducting business and lobbying for one’s commercial interests using public office. And it seems very likely that Napso was actually accused of the same thing that Arsen Kanokov may be actively involved in. Let us add that the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation has now raised the issue of confiscating in favor of the state the income illegally earned by Yuri Napso; no one has repealed Articles 169 and 235 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation.
Above are only the most symbolic parallels with those involved in investigations from Sochi. At the same time, it is known that Arsen Kanokov conducts his business on a large scale: after the start of the special operation, his assets were replenished with shares in the Vkusno i Tochka chain and the former Starbucks.
In the East and in the West?
In addition, Kanokov may have many assets in the same United Arab Emirates where Napso is hiding, as well as in the United States. The potential threat of being included in Western sanctions lists seems to have been well considered by him. According to rumors, the senator’s daughter is married to a citizen of the United States, and the member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs himself did not vote for the entry of new territories into the Russian Federation. A good trump card to use when you have to leave the country?
During this difficult period for the country, Arsen Kanokov’s business spirit seems to have never misfired. And, it would seem, he is one of those who are riding the current wave and are focused on building their empire in Russia. However, this is unlikely to be the case. From the moment the SVO began, Kanokov can actively direct his financial flows through other countries.
Why talk about all this in a story with the possible release of father and son Arashukov? It’s not even so much about Arsen Kanokov’s friendship with Rashid Temrezov And Vyacheslav Derevwho, as one can assume, have suffered a lot from the current inmates from the Black Dolphin colony, and the latter even managed to end up behind bars himself. The question is precisely about the effect of the release of Raul and Rauf on the socio-political situation in the Caucasus. Kanokov clearly strives to be the No. 1 Circassian philanthropist and indeed has a lot of merit in this field. However, is it now necessary to get out of prison people who ended up there, including thanks to the efforts of the Circassian social movements of Karachay-Cherkessia, primarily “Adyge Khase”? After all, it is assumed that one of his leaders was killed on behalf of Rauf Arashukov.
To summarize, we can say that the supervisory authorities and state security agencies are probably aware of the actions of the senator from Kabardino-Balkaria. Only two questions remain a mystery. When will they react? And why haven’t they done this yet?
