The elections for the mayor of Bratsk are heading towards their final stages in dramatic fashion. On the evening of August 28, regional media reported that police had seized copies of the municipal newspaper “Ogni Angara” from the city’s main printing house.
A video with the press secretary of the current mayor and at the same time a candidate for mayor immediately spread Sergei Serebrennikov Svetlana Mavlyukeevawhere she says that no complaint was filed, and in general the issue is filled with materials that the population really needs: free information about candidates for mayors and deputies (on September 8 they will also elect a new city Duma), an interview with the speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Baikal region Alexander Vedernikov, a photo report from the celebration of the Day state flag
And before that, the city held a press conference with the participation of mayoral candidates Alexandra Dubrovina (self-nominated) and Konstantina Klimov (LDPR), as well as deputy head of the Fraternal Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Oleg Dukhovnikov under the motto “Bratsk for clean elections.” We discussed the facts of dissemination of defamatory information both in telegram channels and in municipal media.
Well, apparently, the police have switched to practice.
People are already somewhat confused. Moreover, on August 29 this newspaper was successfully distributed. Obviously, the reason for the confrontation was not Vedernikov’s revelations and free pieces of municipal newspaper space for poor candidates, but a centerfold article with criticism (or smut, they call it differently) of Serebrennikov’s main competitor, Dubrovin.
What can I say?
The Irkutsk “United Russia”, diligently clearing the clearings of opposition candidates, is exposed here to the obvious ridicule of history, psychology, sociology and a bunch of other social sciences. After all, the confrontation flared up right inside the den – Serebrennikov was promoted to mayor from the party in power, Dubrovin is the current mayor of the Bratsk district from the same party. Yes, what a confrontation! It’s one thing to compete with some unfortunate communist, from whom all actors, from printing houses to law enforcement agencies, shy away like the plague. And another thing is a fight in front of the amazed electorate of two sides that are completely included in the system, each of which may have in its hands a dubier from the arsenal of the same system.
So, for example, the already mentioned Dukhovnikov left his post as head of the department for fire safety, civil defense and emergency situations in the Bratsk administration in May 2024. And he went back to the police. He seems to be a balanced person, a professional, but his former patron Serebrennikov cannot be called a wise leader of a dream team. So many are fleeing from under the leadership of Sergei Vasilyevich. And Klimov is not just Zhirinovsky’s falcon from the mountain, but also a product of the system, a native of the bear camp, the former head of Bratsk, who held this post during the period of city management, to which system the city temporarily switched, largely thanks to all this or Serebrennikov.
On top of everything, Sergei Vasilyevich, who has lost his face, also of his own free will demonstrates to the public how a person can become one with a chair if he lacks the understanding to look at his own personality objectively. Serebrennikov immediately in the evening, in confusion, showed the sleeping city a statement written either in sports lotto or somewhere else.
Sergei Vasilyevich sincerely calls the municipal newspaper “ours,” completely not understanding that he is now a candidate like everyone else. And at least outwardly, decency must be observed. Mavlyukeeva generally says “my newspaper,” that is, the loyal retinue of the Honorary Mayor is sure that she should write and generally work exclusively for the needs of the patron, and not some other population.
Well, after serving as mayor for 15 years, is it really necessary to recommend yourself to the voter in some additional way? If you are such a good mayor, then the electorate should already be aware. What other circulations? Pro-government channels, by the way, made a mistake by mentioning that the long-suffering release of “Angara Lights” cost the treasury hundreds of thousands of rubles. Sometimes it’s better to chew than to talk.
Soon this post was urgently deleted.
But the people fixed in their minds that with this money it was possible to solve at least one of the many problems of the city that had accumulated under the leadership of Sergei Vasilyevich. Albeit relatively small, but still! At least make a ramp for wheelchairs in some house, so that at least one disabled person does not have to contact the governor. But you can’t solve it with this money, the paper is ruined.
And this is only one edition! Which Sergei Vasilyevich clearly needs not to give free PR somewhere in the backyards of the numbers of poor candidates for the Duma… But for his own personal PR (and anti-PR for his competitor). Isn’t it a little expensive?..
