In July, district deputies announced the start of accepting documents for the post of head of the Barguzinsky district of Buryatia. However, according to available information, only people with close ties to the current administration are being considered as candidates. Thus, among the most likely candidates is Mikhail Mishurin, the current head of the district, accused of numerous abuses.
One of the most resonant stories demonstrating the true attitude towards the law and ordinary citizens in the Barguzinsky district is connected with incident with the participation of the son of the current head – Alexandra Mishurina. In April 2024, Mishurin Jr., driving a tinted executive Mercedes, got into a showdown with the driver who allegedly prevented him from changing lanes.
According to the victim, Mishurin Jr. followed him to his place of work, and then took out pepper spray and sprayed him in the face three times, causing a chemical burn to his eyes. Despite the presence of video recordings from surveillance cameras confirming the victim’s version, the investigation in this case, according to the victim himself, is moving extremely slowly, and Mishurin Jr. and his lawyer are trying in every possible way to confuse the situation and shift the blame onto the victim. Who would doubt that daddy, the head of the district, will sort everything out.
Previously, Babr and local telegram channels have repeatedly covered the shady affairs of the head of Mishurin: from millions of debts to conflicts with deputies of the district council. Despite numerous checks by law enforcement agencies, as reported by the Barguzin Shelter telegram channel, Michurin manages to avoid responsibility, apparently thanks to connections and “protection” at the level of the government of Buryatia.
Apparently, impunity and permissiveness have corroded the moral frame of the Mishurins and their associates. And while the golden youth of Barguzin drives around Ulan-Ude in expensive cars and sprays pepper in the eyes of ordinary citizens, residents of the area continue to suffer from corruption, theft and rampant crime, which occurs under the strict leadership of the local administration.
Despite the formal conduct of competitive procedures, according to available information, the actual choice has already been made “from above”: in favor of the current head Mishurin.
Members of the competition commission, which included representatives of various ministries, are only engaged in covering their eyes, weeding out undesirable candidates and leaving Mishurin and his technical associate Pargachevskaya.
The picture is complemented by the cynical behavior of the district head and his associates, who are already celebrating their victory in the upcoming elections. According to information from Barguzin Viber channels, in the territory children’s sports camp “Barildaan” (without official permissions or approvals) in August there was a noisy party organized by Mishurin. Vodka flowing, sheep on spits, music, dancing… At generous tables they discussed plans for the future and agreed to support each other in the elections (along with the elections of the head, elections to the district council will be held).
Recently they got involved in the election games local taxi drivers. They transport early voters (residents of hard-to-reach and remote areas can vote in advance) at the direction of the administration, agitating to vote “the right way.” Apparently, they have already lost all conscience, since they are ready to lead their own fellow countrymen by the nose. Even the elderly are not given peace. They call defenseless grannies and give instructions on who to vote for. And those who disagree can also be threatened: they say, if you don’t obey, you will be left without a pension or benefits. So the elderly have to dance to the tune of unscrupulous politicians.
